Bob G has been quietly whipping up OG garage tracks on an MPC in his home studio in Malmö for a fair few years, unbeknownst to the masses, developing his own giddy and no-nonsense style. Citing inspiration from the likes of Malmö mainstay Per Hammar, Harrison BDP, the ‘Rominimal’ sound and anything with a shuffley beat.

It was only until the announcement of his debut record on Alec Falconer & Dr Banana’s widely acclaimed label ‘Ba Dum Tish’ that propelled Bob G’s tracks into the larger dance music circuit, immediately sparking recognition and traction amongst many touring DJs. Gaining support from the likes of Cynthia, Fabe, Harry Wills and of course the prolific founders of the label.

Interview

What’s your ideal breakfast?
Keeping it quite simple and Swedish, freshly baked bread with butter cheese and some sliced paprika. With some black coffee and orange juice.

What was the first record (or CD) you ever got?
Must be something I got from my older brother, maybe Black Sabbath or The Offspring.

Any recent TV / Movie reccomendations?
I always talk about this documentary called rain-deer spotting which is one of my all time favorite films. But other more recent ones I don’t really have any.

Does your alias have a backstory?
Yes! It stems from my nickname which is Bob. Bob comes from Bob The Builder, which a friend namned me as I use to work full time as a carpenter. Then the G at the end is just a little homage to one of the greats, Mr G.

What’s the best thing you’ve ever got for free?
I would say education

What would your autobiography be called?
Hannd: How chronic overthinking became chronic over creating of new musical projects and ventures.

Do you have a party trick?
Maybe a bad joke from time to time.

What’s your current rotation of non-dance music?
Nationalteatern, The spits, Elliott Smith, Kokoroko, Cory Hanson.

Who’s your favourite Music Artist right now?
Electronic wise I must say Garrett David, he’s just a constant inspiration. But otherwise I think atm it would be Eterkropp.

Any other passions/hobbies besides music?
I have quite a few, but climbing, painting, hiking and reading books are some examples.

What’s something you’re proud of about yourself?
Having been a carpenter for many years, that skill of being able to build is something I cherish and take pride in.

Describe your Earworm mix
It’s just all my first vinyl purchases (and some newer ones that fit the vibe) but the sound stems from the minimal side of things. So it’s paying homage to what got me started with electronic music.
